Union Pacific Provides Funding for First AED Site
Union Pacific is proud to announce a $15,000 Community Impact Grant to establish the first AED Rescue Connect Site in Rockford, IL. This critical funding will enable the deployment of a new, state-of-the-art Automated External Defibrillator (AED) system, ensuring that life-saving technology is readily available and strategically accessible within the community.
The AED Rescue Connect Site will integrate advanced telecommunications to immediately alert first responders and site personnel during an emergency, drastically cutting response times when every second counts. This initiative underscores Union Pacific’s commitment to enhancing safety and well-being in the communities where its employees live and work, moving beyond railway safety to support public health infrastructure.
The launch of the AED Rescue Connect Site represents a significant step forward in improving cardiac emergency outcomes for Rockford residents. Cardiac arrest is a time-sensitive crisis, and increasing access to publicly available AEDs has been proven to substantially raise survival rates. Union Pacific’s grant not only provides the essential equipment but also supports the necessary training and integration of this technology with local emergency medical services (EMS). We anticipate that this initial site will serve as a model for future expansion, creating a more resilient and prepared Rockford. We look forward to seeing the positive, life-saving impact of this partnership.
